Nurture Our Neighbor
St. John’s food ministry, “Nurture Our Neighbor,” helps our neighbors facing increased food insecurity as an entry point for building deeper relationships within the community.
If you are in need of food, we distribute on the third Sunday of the month from 3:00-4:30 pm.
We kicked off our ministry on September 12, 2021, “God’s Work. Our Hands.” Sunday, when we came together as a congregation to pack bags after church that day. The following Sunday, September 19, was our first monthly food distribution. Since then, we have had a distribution on the 3rd Sunday of each month, from 3:00 – 4:30.
We invite friends and neighbors of St. John’s to join us in supporting this ministry. There are many ways that you can help: by giving of your time and talents through volunteering and by giving of your possessions through food donations and/or monetary contributions.
Monetary donations may be made online at Tithe.ly. Please choose “Nurture our Neighbor” in the “Give to” line. A list of food items to be collected is below.
If you live in the area and would like to donate items and are not coming to church in person, please contact us at food@stjohnsrockville.org to arrange for food to be picked up.
If you would like to volunteer or help in any other way, please contact us at food@stjohnsrockville.org.
