Worship

We come together for worship each Sunday at 10:00 am.

St. John’s celebrates Holy Communion each week and we welcome all people to the Lord’s table, including children. All are welcome to join us for worship.

Sunday Worship – Online and In Person

We are worshiping in person in the sanctuary. However, some things have changed from how we worshiped before March 2020.

Masks are no longer required at St. John’s, but many people still choose to wear one.

During the course of the worship service we stand and sit, sing, say the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer, and respond to prayers and other congregational responses in the liturgy. However, some worship service elements are a bit different than before: At the Peace, we no longer shake hands or leave our seats to move around the sanctuary. For Communion, we use prepackaged communion elements with gluten-free bread and grape juice.

During worship, the service and music lyrics are projected on the wall. A bulletin is shared electronically for those who wish to follow along whether at church or at home.

We continue to share worship on our digital campus through St. John’s YouTube channel, where worship will be streamed live at 10 am on Sundays. You can also view past services on this channel. St. John’s kindly requests that you join worship on the digital campus when you are sick or if you have been sick within 24 hours of worship.

Children & Worship

St. John’s encourages families to worship together. Children of all ages are invited to participate in communion. Quiet activity bags are available for children.

Our nursery is currently unattended. Parents may be with their children in that space during worship. There is also a separate quieting room available for feeding infants at the back of the sanctuary

Communion

All are welcome to receive Communion including children, toddlers and older.

While we usually offer the traditional bread and wine, as well as grape juice and gluten-free options, currently we are using pre-packaged communion elements with gluten-free bread and grape juice.

Christmas Eve Services

In 2022, we held one Christmas Eve service on December 24. We began at 7:30 pm with a variety of musical selections from St. John’s musical groups and guests. A service of candlelight and communion began at 8:00 pm. In 2022, Christmas Day fell on a Sunday and a worship service was held at 10:00 am.

Inclement Weather Policy

For the safety of our members, St. John’s closes whenever Montgomery County Public Schools close for inclement weather. If schools are closed, so is the church. If after school activities are canceled, so are afternoon and evening activities at the church.

Closures on Saturday and Sunday will be announced on this site, our Facebook page, and by email.
