We come together for worship each Sunday at 10:00 am.
St. John’s celebrates Holy Communion each week and we welcome all people to the Lord’s table, including children. All are welcome to join us for worship.
Sunday Worship – Online and In Person
Starting on June 6, we will again have worship in person in the sanctuary. As we do so, please read the following changes to our way of doing things:
Before and After Worship: Please do all greetings and socializing outside in the grass or on the sidewalks. Please proceed to the sanctuary for worship upon entering the building and exit the building following worship.
As you enter the building for worship: Please wear a mask, use the available hand sanitizer, and proceed to take a seat in the sanctuary. If you forget a mask, you can pick one up as your enter for worship. Masks are required for worshippers in the sanctuary at this time.
Some worship service elements will be a bit different as worship resumes this summer:
- At the Peace, St. John’s will not be shaking hands or leaving our seats to move around the sanctuary
- For Communion, St. John’s will be making use of prepackaged communion elements with gluten free bread and grape juice.
- At the end of worship, please proceed outside to greet one another.
During the course of the worship service together we will stand and sit, sing, say the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer, and respond to prayers and other congregational responses in the liturgy.
St. John’s kindly requests that you join worship on the digital campus when you are sick or if you have been sick within 24 hours of worship.
In addition, we continue to share worship on our digital campus through St. John’s YouTube channel, where worship will be streamed live at 10 am on Sundays. You can also view past services on this channel.
In worship you will find the service and music is projected on the wall as well as printed in the bulletin. Large format bulletins and hearing assistance devices are also available for use each week.
Children & Worship
St. John’s encourages families to worship together. Each week, Pastor Kern provides a children’s sermon as well as invites children of all ages to participate in communion. Quiet activity bags are available for children.
For those who prefer, we provide a staffed nursery from 9:45 am to 11:15 am on Sunday mornings. Our nursery attendants love children, and are background checked. The nursery is intended for children under the age of 5 during worship. There is also a separate quieting room available for feeding infants.
All are welcome to receive Communion including children, toddlers and older. We offer the traditional bread and wine, as well as a grape juice option. Gluten-free bread is also available.
Christmas Eve Services
Each year we hold two Christmas Eve services on December 24. A children and family service is held at 4:00pm designed to last less than one hour. The second service is a traditional Christmas Eve service, and is held at 8:00pm. It is preceded at 7:30pm with a variety of musical selections from St. John’s musical groups. All people, including children and families, are encouraged to join us at either service for worship on Christmas Eve.
Inclement Weather Policy
For the safety of our members, St. John’s closes whenever Montgomery County Public Schools close for inclement weather. If schools are closed, so is the church. If after school activities are canceled, so are afternoon and evening activities at the church.
Closures on Saturday and Sunday will be announced on this site, our Facebook page, and the following stations and their web pages (under weather and closings):
